Don't Wanna Be Like You
Although I have not earned this privilege, I have the privilege to be myself. Society, most religions, and many families do not accept and look down upon people who are different from their expectations. I believe everyone is born with the right to be whoever they please to be. For example, I listen to the music I enjoy, dress the way I wish to, and befriend the people I like. I know that if I was unable to do so, I would have never been shaped into the person I am today, and I would not be able to think or fend for myself. We do not have a very diverse society; I believe this is because society has created an image of what they think a man or woman should look and act like. Growing up, kids are subjected to this ideal persona, and they are forced to think that they should grow up to be exactly like that. Over the years, I have learned that it is better to be different because it expresses my originality.
